In addition to being certified by the Kansas Attorney General to teach the CCH-license training course, I am also certified by the National Rifle Association to teach RIFLE, PISTOL, and HOME FIREARM SAFETY courses.
I particularly enjoy teaching the FIRST STEPS PISTOL and FIRST STEPS RIFLE courses to those with little or no handgun- or rifle-shooting experience. The sit-down portion of either course takes about two hours, and we spend an hour or two on my personal range. You may bring your own pistol or rifle and manual (If you don't have a manual for your gun, you should really try to get one, and gun manufacturers will often give you one FREE because it is to their benefit for you to know how to take care of and use their handgun safely!), or you may use my Ruger Mark II .22LR semi-automatic pistol (click here to see a picture) or my Tula .22LR semi-automatic rifle (click here to see a picture) for an additional $10 plus the current cost of the ammunition you use ($3-4 per 100 rounds as of September, 2009) or you can bring your own ammo.
I charge $45 for one person or $75 when your spouse or a friend accompanies you! Maximum class size is two. If you (or if your spouse or significant other wants you) to take this course, just contact me and we'll set the date.
Last year I taught the PISTOL course to two couples who also wanted to take my CCH class. In both cases, the women were inexperienced shooters (one had never shot before!) while the men were long-time shooters, and, when they all later shot the CCH qualification targets, both women out-shot their men!
